Teachable Points of View – Adrenaline – And Sharing Your Faith: A Leadership Thought

What are some ‘crucible events’ in your life as a leader? We’ve all experienced them - events that help shape our leadership style, and in turn, help us produce teachable moments in the lives of those we lead. David Collum, CEO of The Pocket Testament League shares one of his crucible events and what happens when teachable moments intersect with sharing our faith.

Do Not Worry

Do Not Worry

‘Do not worry.’ We’ve read Matthew 6:25-34 in the Sermon on the Mount, but what does that look like on a day-to-day, minute-by-minute basis? God knows our every worry, fear, and concern – and He can handle it. Many thanks to Darrell Passwater, Convene Forum Team leader, for his encouragement to think about how our lives might be different by truly living out this scriptural principle.

What is Your North Star?

What is Your North Star?

Over the years, I’ve spent more than one night on a sailboat in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. GPS makes it pretty easy to chart your course and get to your destination, even when it’s dark and you can’t see much. Before GPS, sailors had to guide their ship using the stars. The north star was always the place to start when you were uncertain or needed to re-orient.

Does Your Sunday Look Like Your Monday?

Does Your Sunday Look Like Your Monday?

What do you do on Sunday? I took inventory. Here’s my typical list.

  • Go to church

  • Go to lunch

  • Respond to email

  • Go to the hardware store

  • Organize my desk

  • Clean something in the house

  • Wish Chick-fil-A was OPEN!

Here’s my new problem. I just listened to the Convene podcast with Dr. Jim Galvin. Turns out I’m pretty much in violation of one of the Ten Commandments with my above list. YIKES! Jim blew up my paradigm about Sunday.

Here I Am

Here I Am

When God calls our name as leaders, He is not looking for a weak response of “I’m here”. He’s not interested in the bored or quiet “here” that we sometimes utter when we’re called upon to sound off in travel groups or classrooms. God is looking for us to say “Here I am” with gusto.
