Born in Colombia, Jairo graduated as a Computer Science Engineer and began his professional career with Unisys Corporation. He moved to the USA in 1993 to fulfill the Head of HR role for Unisys in Latin America, and then transitioned into the role of Global CHRO and CMO for Neoris Corporation in Miami. Fernandez later began working for SAP, where he held senior vice president roles in HR and leadership strategy for SAP Latin America, Asia Pacific and Global. Fernandez was thrice named in the Excellence in Human Resources Awards of the South Florida Business Journal in 2008, 2010 and 2011; he also led SAP Asia Pacific to be recognized as one of the best employers in the Asia-Pac region.
Jairo has been instrumental in improving employee experience within organizations and has been a contributor to top publications in the Asia-Pac region. While living and working in Asia, Fernandez was recognized as ‘HR professional of the Year’ at the HR excellence awards Asia, Top 30 HR professional in South East Asia by HRD Singapore magazine, and 50 most innovative HR tech leaders award from World HRD Congress.
His latest corporate experience was the role of Global CHRO for Reef Technology in 2019, with full responsibility over the People function. During his corporate tenure, Jairo has been an avid coach of leaders and professionals at different stages of their careers and has led the design of Leadership strategies for companies with which he has been involved.
He left Reef in 2020 to pursue independent consulting opportunities in Executive Coaching and People strategy and he has felt God stirring him to use his prior experiences and training in a Christ-centric business ministry. Through Convene, Jairo seeks to transform lives and businesses globally for the glory of God.
