Marc has more than 30 years of leadership experience and served as President of ProSound & Stage Lighting for 10 years.
ProSound is a company utilizing catalog and web channels for sound and lighting products delivered to schools, churches, military and the musician/dj market. He grew that organization into a recognized national niche leader and sold it in 2005. Today he maintains minority positions at ProSound and Convene.
Marc left ProSound at the end of 2002 to join Convene. He serves in business development where he focuses on finding excellent group leaders and helping them launch groups across the nation.
Marc came to Christ in 1987 and worships at North Hills Church in Brea, CA where he leads the men’s ministry. Marc is married to Kasey. They have three children and a desire to live the abundant life of followers that pray, listen and obey our Lord Jesus Christ.
Marc loves to help business leaders maximize opportunities and minimize risks by developing the discernment to make the best decision. Who stays, who goes, what do we stop doing and what do we keep doing?
The coaching process is about selecting a BHAG and focusing on the next greatest step towards making the BHAG a reality. Most CEOs and presidents know what needs to happen and they need a sounding board that helps them explore possibilities and frame a plan to move forward. The process in intention. Marc uses The Work of Leaders – VAE framework and John Maxwell resources to create inflection points. The process sharpens thinking and develops a discipline of questioning assumptions and answers. For the leader with a growth mindset coaching is most rewarding.
The Work of Leaders focuses on the VAE framework for leadership growth. V is vision and the process from the leader through the organization. A is for alignment which leads toward synergy and the potential for speed. E is for Execution which is most often the greatest challenge for leadership. How do we get from an idea to reality? The DISC for Leaders is a great staring point and often moves towards a 360. Seeking reality and knowing with certainty that “Reality is our friend” often separates the winners from the losers. The resource towards Patrick Lencioni’s “The Five Characteristics of a High Performing Team” is a framework that many organizations find easy to step into as they seek to perform at a higher level.
John Maxwell resources offer accessible tools for leadership development with 21 Irrefutable Laws of a Leader, Winning with People, The 5 Levels of Leadership. All resources work with a leader or teams as the intentional desire to impact culture grows.
What is your focus for the next season? Might Christian CEOs, presidents and business owners be the right market for you to serve? Might Convene be the right tool for you to do that work?
These are the questions that are central to the journey for many “half-time” leaders. A central part of Marc’s work is to process these ideas with leaders across the country. The most common regale by Convene leaders who are leading Convene CEO teams is: “This is the best work I have ever done!” The work is highly relational utilizing both a one to one coaching element and a peer to peer monthly board of advisor day to impact business owners towards business performance and an eternal perspective.
The work is 7 to 8 days a month and generates $100K + revenue with a full team of 16 Forum members. Most Convene Chairs like the “portfolio” work at this stage in their careers and add a consulting and or coaching practice to their Convene work. The flexibility is most attractive as is the community of Christ centered leaders who help one another grow through community and then power of the Holy Spirit.
Marc leads the process for Chair Selection which culminates with 4 days of Chair Training every quarter.
